1) Securely block the rear tires and jack up the front axle and place on jack stands. Make sure you have all the parts from the Lock-Right kit and at least 1 and 1/2 quarts of gear lube, we used Schaeffer's Synthetic Blend Supreme Gear Lube SAE 80-90. Remove the diff. drain plug first with a 3/8" ratchet extension then remove all the diff. cover bolts (1/2" socket) and let all the old gear lube drain into a container (smells great don't it!) and don't forget to take it to your local parts store so they can recycle it. I usually use a spray can of brake parts cleaner to clean out the inside of the diff.

2)  Remove both tires. then remove the brake calipers (2 bolts) and rotors from both sides. I zip-tied the caliper to the frame rail to keep it out of the way.

3) Next remove the axle shafts by removing the 3 bolts from each side on the back side of the spindle, you will need a 12 point 13mm socket to do this. Gently pull the hub assembly which is attached to the inner and outer axle shafts. You do not have to pull the axle shafts all the way out, just about 6 inches.

4) Next take off the bearing caps that hold the carrier in the diff. housing. The bearing caps will need to go back on the same way they are taken off. Make note of the which bearing cap goes where. Near the bottom or the top of each cap and on the diff housing (where the cover goes) there will be installation reference numbers stamped in sideways and upside down. On my axle the letters "A" is stamped. On one side both A's will be side ways and on the other side both A's will be upside down. This may sound confusing but when you see it up close it will make sense. I used a black magic marker to draw a line on the housing and bearing cap to help with the re-alignment during re-assembly. once both caps are removed, you will have to pull the pry the carrier out. Sometime they will come out easy and other times they will have to be persuaded with a pry/crow bar. I used a pickle fork wedged between the carrier and housing and gave it a couple whacks and it came out. Be careful not the lose the placement of the side bearing caps on the carrier.
