Project Double-Duty is a very capable off-road machine, and since the factory roll cage doesn't provide much protection, we had to beef it up! We ourselves and most of our crew have opted to weld in the TJ Trail Cage from Poison Spyder Customs in our Jeep Wranglers. We chose to be a Poison Spyder Customs dealer because the quality, fit and price of their products is excellent.
Kit components are constructed from 1.75" .125 wall DOM, all plates and gussets are 3/16", laser cut steel. The trail cage is an eight piece set that utilizes the factory cage as a platform. The kit comes with two dash to floor supports, two upper pillars that weld to the factory windshield bars, a dash and upper windshield bar, and two center spreaders that can be located in several positions.
As shown at left, the front pillar mount does not intrude into the interior or dash. Cage is secured at the windshield, front gusseted pillar, factory mounts on the door jam and to the floor through the forward drain hole, providing solid strength from the top of the windshield to the floor.
We really like this cage! The 2 upper pillars are forward and don't obstruct vision like some thru the dash cages, yet they don't intrude into the dash. While some cages bolt to the cowl area, and some bolt to to the floor, the PSC Trail cage mounts to BOTH areas, making for a very strong, rigid cage. There is no obstruction of the air vents or speakers as with some kits on the market today.
