Project Double-Duty TJ

Custom Leaf Spring Rear Suspension & 108" Wheelbase!

Here's Project DD with 108" of wheelbase.

Jeep wranglers with big lifts and big tires should be wider and longer than stock for added stability.

Our Jeep should now be ready for a variety of terrain. Those steep climbs should be much less scary now. We're looking forward to seeing how it drives on the street too...

We added a rear frame extension and custom bumper to accommodate our new shackle mounts. The rear of the new bumper is 6" behind the existing frame edge. The jeep still has a 75 degree departure angle.

The leaf springs are Old man Emu JC1A leafs for a Jeep Cherokee. We added the OME extra leaf and flipped them front to back to achieve the wheelbase we wanted. The front leaf spring mounts are factory YJ Wrangler weld on mounts.

We still need to fab up some side plates to tie the new extension to the frame and seal up the bumper ends.

Here's more pics of our Jeep at 108". We've got lot's to do yet, but it's starting to take shape now.
