OME Dakar Leaf Springs:

To achieve better load carrying capability, increased suspension travel and a more comfortable & controlled ride from a leaf spring suspension is not an easy task.

ARB's engineers have been refining leaf spring design for over 20 years and have the experience to know just what it takes to produce the very best leaf springs for your 4x4.

To have a great spring you must first design it to have minimum stress, this, obviously, significantly increases the spring's life. Secondly, you must manufacture the springs with processes that insure consistency. From the materials used, to the camber dies that make the spring, to the heat treatment that sets the spring, Old Man Emu's manufacturing techniques and quality control are second to none.
When developing rear Emu Dakar leaf springs, OME engineers invariably opt for a 2-stage leaf pack. When unladen, your vehicle rides largely on the primary stage, thus ensuring a smooth, comfortable ride. When your vehicle is heavily laden, the secondary stage is employed for additional support.
1. Military Wrap. Designed to provide added safety.

2. Draw Tapered & Diamond Cut Leaves. To reduce interleaf  friction and to         
ensure that load distribution occurs at the leaf tips - this significantly                contributes to spring life.             

 

3. Anti Friction Pads. Regreasable nylon interleaf liners reduce friction at the leaf tips where the load is the greatest.
 

4. Graphite Coating. To further reduce the friction between the spring leaves & friction pads.
 

5. Bolt Clamps & Liners. The leaf clamps are bolted to allow installation of anti squeak nylon liners.
 

6. Shot Peening. The tension side of all leaves is shot peened to reduce spring stress. This process can double the life of a spring

7. Flat Axle Seat Area. Allows a positive, safe axle mount reducing spring stress & increasing spring life

8. Fully Scragged & Load Tested. Scragging ensures the spring takes a permanent ‘set’ which reduces the risk of sagging. Load testing ensures the spring meets the required specs.

Variable Or Constant Spring Rates

Depending on application, OME manufactures coil springs with constant or variable rates. A variable rate coil spring provides ride comfort when the vehicle is unloaded and maintains ride height and control when the vehicle is carrying a load.

Formed On Precision Mandrels

The use of CNC precision mandrels insures that all springs produced are identical and consistent with design specifications.

Shot Peening

Coils are fully shot peened, which reduces stress and greatly increases spring life.

Fully Scragged And Load Tested

All coils are scragged to eliminate spring sag and load tested to insure that they meet required specifications.

Exacting End Configuration Manufacture

Old Man Emu coil springs are designed to fit correctly on the vehicle by duplicating the original manufacturers coil end.

Manufacturing Consistency And Quality Control

Stringent quality control procedures for heat treatment (tempering) processes and all phases of the manufacturing process insure that OME springs are made the same way every time.

 

OME Nitro-charger Shocks:

Old Man Emu Nitro-charger shocks are not just another shock made by one of the big manufacturers, painted a different color and sold with a different label like many shocks today. OME shocks are designed, valved and tested by ARB, then put into production on a dedicated manufacturing line in Australia, which is used exclusively to manufacture the Old Man Emu range of Nitro-charger shock absorbers.

Each shock is valve coded to complement your springs - whether you want to keep your original springs or decide to go with OME springs to greatly improve ride quality, towing and off-roading ability.
